Protein is the most nutrient dense macronutrient yet most people are under-eating it! While carbs and fats are also essential, most people don’t understand how much to eat of each and why.
Most people in this world, including this generation of children or teens, have become addicted to a more starchy, sugary menu. Foods high in sugar can be as addictive as heroin- it releases feel good hormones for a quick, short term “high.”
The lack of education on the topic creates an ugly pattern of parents feeding their kids foods that are not nutrient dense. They get on the “sugar high” train. And once you’re aboard it’s really hard to exit. You will be nutrient deficient due to lack of protein so your body will start to crave quick sugars for energy. The more of it you eat, the more your body craves it.
However… I am living proof that it’s never too late to learn your body, understand your hunger cues, and condition it to crave more nutrient dense foods. Trust me. If I can do it, you can too. It’s a miracle I’m even here today and I thank my efforts at being proactive with my health & nutrition for that.
Stay tuned for more.
I’m planning to share how I got here in my upcoming posts. I feel obligated to share this with others because I wish someone did this for me when I was younger!
